Call Me A Chemist

Last week Albyn School welcomed 10 primary school teachers from across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire to the first Call me a Chemist event which was hosted in the school science labs.
The teachers undertook practical experiments linked to the curriculum, focusing on giving more depth and understanding to the Chemistry involved.
The event focussed on using every day items to create a variety of practical investigations and encouraged sustainability through the use of recycled items such as jam jars and juice bottles.
The event was funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the teachers received resource packs so that they could take their new ideas back into the classroom.
It was a fun-filled, interactive session that benefited both the primary school teachers and the Chemistry staff.
If you know anyone who would like to attend future events, please contact Catherine Imlah (Head of Science) at c.imlah@albynschool.co.uk.
