With COP26 taking place in Glasgow next week, the University of Aberdeen arranged a fantastic Mock COP26 for students from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. The aim of the Mock COP26 was to provide an insight into the types of negotiations that will take place between countries to tackle climate change issues domestically and internationally.

This role-play activity involved 12 teams with Albyn School’s Advanced Higher Geography pupils representing the United States of America. Evie, Jasper, Ewan, Hannah and William came up with some fantastic resolutions of which 6 out of 7 were voted through.

Evie said, ““We really enjoyed participating in the MOCK COP26 representing the USA yesterday evening. It really helped us with our understanding of the current climate discussions and the aims that countries and organisations are going to have next week at the real COP26. This experience has helped us so much with public speaking and our knowledge on topics like electric vehicles, reaching net-zero, sustainable agriculture, and many more discussed at the conference.”
