Co-Curricular Activities in Upper School
All our pupils have the opportunity to experience a broad range of co-curricular activities and pupils are encouraged to get involved in different activities to develop their interests beyond academic study. These activities may remain as a hobby or could inspire pupils to consider careers which they may not otherwise have thought of. All activities are subject to change and new ones will be introduced from time to time.

Duke of Edinburgh
Albyn School is a registered centre of the Duke of Edinburgh awards, the world’s leading youth achievement award, aimed at young people aged 14-24. The majority of our pupils will take part in the scheme whilst at Albyn and will find achieving the award life-changing.
The DoE award encourages the individual to develop their potential; to appreciate the needs of others and to be willing to contribute to their wellbeing; to enjoy physical activity; to prepare for and take part in an expedition over a specified number of days. The award also enhances pupil’s CVs and university applications.

CCF RAF
There are CCF (Combined Cadet Force) contingents in over 500 secondary schools all over the UK, offering young people a broad range of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities.
The aim is to enable the development of personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline. Each CCF is an educational partnership between the school and the Ministry of Defence, and a CCF may include Royal Navy/Royal Marines, Army or Royal Air Force sections. At Albyn School, our CCF section is the Royal Air Force. For more information visit Combined Cadet Force | Homepage.
Formula 24
Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.
Here at Albyn School we have two F24 kit cars and a very committed and enthusiastic team who are involved in all aspects of team management from building, adapting and testing the cars to driving at the races, marketing, sponsorship and logistics.
We recently retained our World Champion status for a second year running after winning the International Finals 2024 at Goodwood Motor Circuit! Read more about our success here .
