Outstanding Success at Scottish Schools Road Race Championships | Albyn School

Albyn took a team of 28 athletes from P6–S6 travelling to compete against the very best young runners from across Scotland, with almost 1,400 competitors taking part across the event.

There were outstanding individual performances from Jess D (S1) and Millie G-P (S2), who both claimed victory in their respective races. Jess finished 1st from a field of 144 competitors, while Millie took 1st place from 157 runners. Their fantastic performances mean that both athletes are now National Road Race Champions in their respective age categories, a remarkable achievement.

The success continued in the team competition, with Millie G-P, Raegan B (S2), Eilidh D (S2) and Molly G-P (S2) leading the way with superb performances. Sophie S (S2) and Iona H (S1) also had brilliant runs, making a fantastic contribution to the overall team effort. Together, the six athletes secured the National Team Championship in Race 5 (for girls born between 1 March 2013 and 28 February 2014).

There were strong performances across the wider team too. Callum S (S1) finished an excellent 11th place in the highly competitive Race 4, while our Athletics Captain, Blair B (S6), finished strongly in Race 11 to secure an impressive 18th place.

Congratulations to all 28 athletes who competed and represented the school so brilliantly. These results are a fantastic reflection of their hard work, determination and commitment. We are exceptionally proud of everyone's achievements, with particular congratulations to our individual National Champions, Jess and Millie, and to our National Team Champions in Race 5.
