Introduction
At Albyn Nursery, we follow the principles of Pre-birth to Three for our children in Toddlers and the 3 to 5 years Early Level Curriculum for Excellence for our children in Preschool.
We use an active learning approach to help children develop vital skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude to learning. We also use ‘Realising the Ambition’ and GIRFEC, always considering the eight wellbeing indicators (SHANARRI) in collaboration with the children to support their learning and track their development from Toddlers through Preschool and readiness for Primary 1.
Each child will have their own Learning Journal which is a digital document that will continually be added to throughout their time in Nursery. The Learning Journal will contain photographs of your child in action during their play and include some of their learning experiences and opportunities.
The children in Toddlers and Preschool enjoy the nursery garden and regularly use other areas of the school grounds, such as the rainbow playground, the main school playground, the sports cage and Milltimber playing fields.
The children in Toddlers and Preschool love their lessons with our dedicated music and PE teachers every week. The children can also visit the Warrack Library in the Lower School every week to borrow books to take home.
Our Toddler and Preschool children have many opportunities to go take part in trips and adventures with their friends throughout the year. These range from trips to the park to visits to Santa's grotto and adventures at Aberdeen beach.
