In this latest blog post, three pupils share their highlights including a fascinating military tour that revealed the island's strategic past, while the other recounts the excitement and challenge of a kayaking expedition along the stunning coastline.
Military Tour on the Island of Vis
Our military tour of Vis Island was really well organised, very informative and incredibly interesting. The places we visit were absolutely fascinating and gave us a great insight into the island's military history. We really enjoyed seeing the coastal bunker and the weapons used. Our tour guide was excellent and made the experience really enjoyable and was very passionate about the history. Overall we had a great time on the trip and would highly recommend it! - Brinitta (S3) & Teresa (S3)
Kayaking
We walked down to the bay and started to practice how to float with our life jackets. We then got into the kayaks and learnt how to steer them in both single and double kayaks. We started by following the rock line to a sheltered bay where we stopped to have lunch and could use the snorkels. I then went in a double kayak and realised they were much harder to steer and to make them go in a straight line. We continued to try and get to a cave but we ran out of time. We returned back to the bay we started from. Overall it was great fun! - Ross (S3)
We are grateful to the pupils for sharing their experiences and look forward to bringing you more highlights from Activities Week shortly.
