Whether exploring vibrant cities, discovering different cultures, taking on exciting challenges, or developing new skills, each trip offers something unique.
In this new blog series, we'll be sharing reflections from pupils who took part in Activities Week 2026. Through their own words, they'll give us an insight into their adventures, the highlights of their journeys, and the moments that made their trips so memorable.
We begin our series in London, where pupil Eva (S2) reflects on her experiences in the capital and shares some of the standout moments from the trip...
Our trip to London was a truly unforgettable five-day experience. We flew from Aberdeen on a red-eye flight and, after landing at London Heathrow Airport, took a bus to our hotel to drop off our bags before beginning our packed programme of activities.
On our first day, we took part in a musical theatre workshop inspired by 'Mamma Mia!' and later attended a performance of 'Beetlejuice' in the West End. It was a long but exciting day, and we returned to the hotel at around 11pm.
The next day, we visited some of London's most iconic sights, including the Houses of Parliament and the Elizabeth Tower, which houses Big Ben. We then enjoyed a cruise along the River Thames before attending a guided tour and evening performance at Shakespeare’s Globe, where we watched 'Mother Courage.'
On Wednesday, we participated in an all-day Complicité workshop. In the evening, we had some free time to explore Covent Garden and experience its lively atmosphere.
The following day, we took part in our third and final workshop. That evening, we attended an immersive production of Agatha Christie’s 'Witness for the Prosecution,' which was a memorable experience.
On the final day, we split into two groups based on the activities we had chosen. One group visited Tate Modern and then had free time to explore the city, while the other group visited the Royal College of Music and attended a performance. On the journey back, they also saw famous landmarks such as the Princess Diana Memorial, Hyde Park, and Buckingham Palace before everyone made their way to London Heathrow Airport to catch the flight back to Aberdeen.
Each day offered a mixture of organised activities, performances, and opportunities to discover the city for ourselves.
One of the highlights of the trip was how much of London we explored on foot. Walking everywhere allowed us to experience the atmosphere of the city and see many of its famous landmarks up close. The combination of theatre, music, art, and sightseeing made the trip both educational and enjoyable, giving us memories that will stay with us long after returning home.
