Albyn School hosted Careers Fair for S3-5 pupils

23 June ‘23

Upper School

We would like to thank all industry professionals who joined us at Albyn School's Careers Fair where they engaged with our S3-5 pupils, discussing various career paths and higher education opportunities. Lorraine Amies, a careers consultant at Robert Gordon University, kicked off the event with an inspiring opening speech, urging our students to seize the available opportunities.

Following the talk, pupils attended four talks of their choice. 40+ speakers - including former pupils and Albyn parents - were part of these talks. Many pupils took the opportunity to engage with the speakers and enquired about work experience.

Lorraine Amies, a careers consultant at Robert Gordon University, opened Albyn School's careers fair.

Yesterday’s fair was a success, with representatives from several universities in attendance, including the University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University, University of St Andrews, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University, Abertay University, University of Dundee, Queen Margaret University, Heriot-Watt University, SRUC, and North East Scotland College. Additionally, we were delighted to welcome organisations such as Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace, Valor Energy, Harbour Energy, Deloitte, Thorpe Molloy Recruitment, NHS, RAF, The Chester Hotel, Royal Navy, AIChemE, and AVC Immedia.

It was truly heartening to witness the presence of many of our former pupils at Albyn's Career Fair, serving as an inspiration to our current pupils. We extend our gratitude to Laila Bedawi, Heather Bruce, Milly Kinghorn, Hollie McKnight, Rebecca Foran-Coutts, Roisean Farquhar, Maddy Newman, Fiona Emsley, Ella White, Emily Story, Emma Ord, Gwen Newman, Kirstin Jackson, Joel Robertson, Sarah Davidson, Kirsty Leigh Brien and Anne-Michelle Slater for their invaluable contribution to the event.

Feedback from pupils and stand hosts alike was very positive, with many of the hosts commenting on how impressed they were with the questions the pupils were asking.  Mrs Prentice, Head of Careers, would like to thank everyone who contributed to the event, particularly those who gave up time from their busy schedules to come speak to the pupils. She is proud of all Albyn pupils for making the most of the opportunities on offer.
