Our Royal Air Force (RAF) cadets from Albyn School’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) soared high with excitement during their Glider flight experience with RAF Kirknewton.
As part of their cadet journey, they got to glide in the Viking TX1 glider. Gliding is an adventure sport, requiring the pilot to harness the power of nature to stay airborne. Each cadet had not one but two flights, lasting about five minutes each. During the flight the pilot performed simple aerobatics and allowed the cadets to assume control and fly the glider!
The cadets learned how the glider flies and stays aloft as well as emergency procedures should a problem arise. Albyn RAF Cadets have the opportunity to fly many times during the year, with the next session taking place in May.
