We are very proud of our S3 pupil Melissa who has just become the first-ever Albyn girl selected for the Scottish Schools’ Football Association’s (SSFA) Girls Under 15 International Squad.
Scouts spotted Melissa – who is an integral member of Albyn School's newly formed Girls U15 Football team – play in a very successful Girls Tournament and closely watched her play for her club.
She was one of the 35 girls selected for the final SSFA trial that took place yesterday (18 December) in Glasgow, and one of 18 that made the final squad. Melissa can now look forward to playing in the Bob Doc Tournament in Athlone, Ireland, next year.
Melissa, who started playing football when she was only seven years old, said: “Scouts came to some of the games, looking for people to select for the international team. I got an email that I should come to Glasgow for the trial. I think the trial went really well for me.
“I feel very good about myself. I think I want to pursue football in the future.”
Well done, Melissa! We cannot wait to see you shine in the Bob Doc Tournament!
