Albyn School Pupils Excel With Exceptional Results Across All Levels

04 August ‘26

General, Upper School

There were celebrations across our school community today as pupils received their Qualifications Scotland examination results, with early analysis showing excellent performances across National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications.

The results continue our strong tradition of academic success, with outstanding numbers of top grades achieved across a broad range of subjects.

At National 5, an outstanding 97% of entries achieved A-C grades and many attained straight A grades across all of their subjects. An impressive 80% of all entries at National 5 level were awarded an A grade, while the cohort also celebrated a 100% pass rate in National 5 English, underlining the exceptional academic performance of this year's pupils.

Strong performances continued at Higher level, where 91% of entries achieved A-C grades, while 85% secured A-B grades. Particularly impressive was the number of pupils achieving straight A grades, with 45% attaining all A grades.

These high standards were also maintained at Advanced Higher, where 85% of entries achieved A-C grades.

The achievements of this year's pupils reflect their hard work and determination, supported by the dedication of Albyn's staff and the encouragement of families throughout their school journey.

Lynda Strachan, Deputy Head (Learning and Teaching), said:

"Today is about celebrating the achievements of every pupil and recognising the dedication, determination and resilience they have shown throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished and of the way they have supported one another along the journey.

Academic success is about more than examination results. It grows from curiosity, commitment and the confidence to challenge yourself. At Albyn, we strive to create an environment where every pupil feels known, supported and inspired to achieve their best, and today's results are a reflection of that shared commitment."

These excellent results reflect the strength of Albyn's educational experience, combining expert teaching with a broad curriculum and extensive co-curricular opportunities. Together, they help pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to leave school as capable, well-rounded young people, ready for the opportunities ahead.

Ms Strachan added:

"Whether our pupils are progressing to university, apprenticeships or other exciting opportunities, we know they leave Albyn ready to make a positive contribution wherever life takes them. We look forward to seeing all they will achieve in the years ahead."

Albyn's S6 leavers have secured places at a variety of leading universities to study courses spanning physiotherapy, law, nursing, medicine, astrophysics, mathematics, business and engineering, illustrating the breadth of their academic interests and aspirations. Others will pursue apprenticeships, employment and a variety of alternative pathways, reflecting the diverse ambitions and talents of this year's cohort.

As this year's leavers begin the next stage of their journey, Albyn now looks ahead to welcoming pupils back for the new academic year and continuing its commitment to helping every child thrive, both inside and beyond the classroom.

Coming up: we'll be sharing more stories from pupils receiving their exam results. Keep an eye on our website for updates.
