Albyn Pupil Achieves Top Grades and Fulfils University Ambition

Opening her results yesterday, Kirsty discovered she had achieved A grades in Advanced Higher Modern Studies, Advanced Higher Maths and Higher PE, the perfect end to an outstanding senior school career.

For Kirsty, the results also mean she can now look forward to the next exciting chapter as she prepares to study Scots Law LLB at the University of Glasgow.

"I was feeling anxious because to get into university I needed a B in Modern Studies, that was my only condition," Kirsty said. "I felt confident I could achieve it, but you just never know when you're in that exam situation, so I was really relieved when I opened my results. It means I can officially say I'm off to Glasgow next month to study Scots Law!"

Although delighted with all of her results, Kirsty admits one grade stood out above the rest.

"I'm particularly proud of my A in Advanced Higher Maths. That was a challenging subject for me. I took it because it was something a bit different from my other subjects, which were both quite writing-heavy. I've always enjoyed maths, but I didn't expect to get an A at all, so that was a huge achievement for me."

Kirsty, who joined Albyn in S1 in 2020 and later went on to become School Captain in 2025/26, credits maintaining a healthy balance between studying and spending time with friends as one of the keys to staying motivated throughout the exam period.

"I would go to the library a lot with my friends and then afterwards we'd maybe go and get lunch or an ice cream as a little reward. I'd make sure I still went out and saw people and had other plans as well as revising, because it can become quite overwhelming."

Having attended several open days over the past year, Kirsty knew after going to the University of Glasgow that it was where she wanted to continue her education.

"It was the university I had my eye on for a while, so I'm really glad I'm going there."

Results Day also marks a moment to celebrate with those closest to her.

"I'm going out for dinner with my dad and brother, and I'll be seeing my friends to celebrate together as well."

Kirsty's achievements reflect not only her academic ability but also her determination and resilience. Having previously spoken openly about overcoming personal challenges during her time at school, including the loss of a parent, she has consistently approached her studies with remarkable focus, positivity and perseverance. Her success serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through hard work, balance and never giving up.
