The Process

Here’s what you can expect from the admissions process.

Step One

Visit Us

We encourage all families considering Albyn School to visit us. Join us at an Open Event, or arrange an in-person visit where you can explore our facilities, meet our team, and get a real sense of our school’s values, energy and community spirit.

Step Two

Submit your application

Log in to our Parent Registration Portal using the 'apply now' button below and complete your child’s application form. You’ll need a copy of your child’s passport, birth certificate and most recent school report. A £50 registration fee applies (waived for Preschool applications).

Step Three

Assessment and interview

The Admissions Team will contact you to arrange entrance assessments and/or an interview. We may invite your child to spend time in class to experience life at Albyn School for themselves.

Step Four

Application outcome

After a thorough review, the Admissions Team will share the outcome of your child’s application.

Step Five

Accepting the offer

If your child’s application is successful, please log back in to our Parent Registration Portal and complete the Acceptance Form. We will ask you to pay a deposit of £200 (Toddlers) or £250 (P1–S6) to confirm your place. There is no deposit required for a Preschool place.

FAQs

Applications to join P1 to S6 are typically submitted in the Autumn term (September to December) for the following academic session; however, applications can be submitted at any time.  We also accept applications for immediate entry subject to availability in the year group requested. There is a December deadline for applications for the Bursary Award. More details are available here.

In most cases, yes! We understand that families may relocate during an academic year, or have special circumstances necessitating a change of school and so we are happy to consider mid-year applications where there is space available. Pupils cannot, however, join exam years of S4-6 during the academic year. Please contact our admissions team for more information.

Yes! If you are unable to attend one of our Open Mornings, the admissions team would be happy to provide tours of the school throughout the year, including during the Easter, Summer and October holidays. Book a Tour here.

We recommend your child comes along with you to visit Albyn School during an Open Morning or tour. You and your child can see our facilities, meet our staff, speak to our current pupils and ask any questions you might have. Your child may also have an opportunity to spend the day in class after their entrance assessment.

Albyn School has a dedicated Additional Support for Learning (ASfL) department that works closely with pupils who may need additional support, ensuring that every pupil is able to thrive academically and personally. The ASfL team is involved throughout the admissions process.
