The Women of Troy Performances

27 February ‘23

General

On Thursday 23 and Friday 24 February, Albyn pupils travelled through Greek mythology to the immediate aftermath of the Trojan War in Euripides’ The Women of Troy.
The Women of Troy, as with any Greek tragedy, was epic in scale and challenge for the 25 pupils involved.
Well done to all pupils both on the stage and behind the scenes - the amount of effort put into this play was absolutely incredible and really paid off in the end!
Thank you to all the pupils, parents, staff and friends of the School who came along to watch - we hope you enjoyed the performances!
Thank you to aerial choreographer, Rachel Allanach for the fantastic lessons and a huge thank you must go to Director and Head of Drama, Ms Williams, for bringing this fantastic Greek masterpiece to the stage in a wonderfully creative way!
Ms Williams commented:
‘The cast worked exceptionally hard to own the language and experiences of the characters in the play and to communicate its all too relevant anti-war message. Our collaboration with aerial choreographer Rachel Allanach was fundamental to the success of the production, giving further expressive range to the grief, loss and eventual hope which the women experience. It was fantastic to have a full house both nights. Audience feedback was unanimously positive, paying particular tribute to the unity of the cast and the emotional impact created by our unique interpretation.
Well done everyone!’
